so, i've asked about...oh...20 people to really consider joining...only one is thinking about it...and is graduating this year anyway. sad, ne? *sigh* i agree, though. $400 worth of equipment does seem like quite alot. grr...i won't give up, though! there's got to be somebody around here that is willing to join! ...hopefully...

First entry of the hopefully-to-be Lathrop Kendo club! I'm using this community as a way for future members to communicate, so first things first:

I need to get in contact with someone who knows kendo and is responsible enough to teach it to others. So far, the most likely candidate is a guy named Charles Scott. Apparently, he used to be the principal of Lathrop, and now he teaches multiple forms of martial arts. Mr. Grassi (just in case you don't know him, he's a History teacher, and also sponsors Lathrop's Fencing club) was kind enough to give me the phone number to the place where Mr. Scott teaches. Unfortunately, though, I've yet to get a hold of him. I'm sure he's pretty busy. So I need to find someone else, just in case. Rumor has it that a kendo instructer has moved up to anchorage, but that's all I know so far...

Well, before I get in contact with a sensei, I need to find at least ten people who are willing to pay about...oh, $400 dollars or so worth of kendo equipment. I know it seems quite alot, but some people are really willing to learn. I know I am. I'm planning on getting a job this summer to save up enough to afford it. But if we actually get this thing started, we can tell new members about the cost even though we wouldn't be using them for about 6 months. That way, people can save up for it. If you want to look at the prices for equipment yourself, go to www.e-bogu.com . But for now, I'm just going to ask some people I know if they're as willing as I am. Let's hope for the best, eh?
